Anna Rubincam (b. 1983)

Anna’s stone carvings tend to start as challenges to test her skill. She has always been drawn to drapery and ornament in stone carving (the more elaborate the better!) and uses these elements to push her designs to their limits. Inspired by historical stone carving — from old masters to the work of anonymous craftsmen she has encountered high up on scaffolding throughout her career in restoration, her work aims to balance dramatic spectacle with intimate detail, inviting close inspection and tactile engagement. Anna trained at the City & Guilds of London Art School and her work can be found on historic buildings around London, including the Palace of Westminster, Whitehall, the Canadian High Commission and the Royal Academy of Art.
