Cutting Cheese: Sculpture, Craft and Performance

Following the success of our collaboration with Britain’s oldest cheesemongers, Paxton & Whitfield at 93 Jermyn Street, London as part of this year’s London Craft Week, our exhibition, Cutting Cheese: Sculpture, Craft and Performance moves to their shop in Bath from 28 May to 25 June. Celebrating cheese as a material and a cultural artefact, stone carver Zoë Wilson will transform cheese into a visually striking geometric sculpture in a live demonstration at Paxton & Whitfield’s Bath Store at 20 Green Street on 12 June from 12 to 1.30pm. She will be accompanied by manager Hazel Cross who will share insights into cheese, offering samples and exploring the parallels between sculpting and artisan cheesemaking with Zoë.

Specially-commissioned sculptures by Ben Russell and Roya Bahram, letter carvings by Charlotte Howarth and a painting by Caroline Hall will be exhibited at Paxton & Whitfield from 28 May to 25 June. All of the works, including Zoë Wilson’s Audere, will be available for purchase via Fluvii. We hope to see you there.

Fluvii: Sixteen Artists on the River Test at Houghton Lodge Gardens, Hampshire

Throughout the summer of 2025, Houghton Lodge, a Grade II* listed ‘Cottage Orné’ in Hampshire, was home to Fluvii, an exhibition featuring the work of 16 talented artists, each exploring a range of media including stone, clay and metal. All of the exhibits responded thoughtfully to the unique character of Houghton Lodge, with its breathtaking views from the house and the famous River Test that meanders through its stunning gardens.

At the heart of the exhibition was Fluvii, the Latin for ‘flows’, a title that captures the harmony between the house, gardens, the natural landscape and the creative energy of the artists, reflecting a shared sense of movement, connection and inspiration. Curator Sarah Rancans takes you behind the scenes of the show in the video on this page.

We welcomed 3,939 visitors to the exhibition from 20 June to 30 September. Don’t worry if you missed it, as select works remain available for purchase. Visit the Sculpture page to see the full range.

Arguably one of the most beautiful privately owned gardens to visit in Hampshire, Houghton Lodge combines historic architecture with stunning natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy both formal and informal gardens, as well as over 15 acres (6 hectares) of meadows and walks along the picturesque River Test. There are resident alpacas, a small flock of Hebridean sheep, and a resident ‘snorting’ topiary dragon. Freshly prepared light lunches, cream teas and homemade cakes are served with tea and coffee in The Glass House Tea Room. For more information, visit https://houghtonlodge.co.uk/
