Triptych is loosely based on the Liberty Cap — the UK’s most common magic mushroom, known for its psychedelic properties. Ben, interested in the mental health potential of psilocybin, began noticing the fungi growing wild near his old studio during his daily dog walks. These sightings sparked the inspiration for a series of hand-carved stone sculptures that favour organic expression over precise replication. Though rooted in the distinctive form of the Liberty Cap, with its conical cap and slender stem, the sculptures could as easily evoke any young fruiting mushroom body, capturing a more universal essence of fungal growth.
