Inside Our Cheese‑Inspired Showcase at Paxton & Whitfield

Cutting Cheese: Sculpture, Craft and Performance has been a highlight of the year so far. As part of London Craft Week, we partnered with the prestigious cheesemongers Paxton & Whitfield to present a unique multi-sensory exhibition, showcasing cheese-inspired works of art, cheese-carving demonstrations and curated tastings at their shops in Jermyn Street, London and Green Street in Bath.

The displays featured hyper-realistic cheese boards by Roya Bahram and Ben Russell, who also showcased a cluster of alabaster mushrooms. Charlotte Howarth’s limestone letter carving and oak board appeared alongside Zoë Wilson’s Audere and Caroline Hall’s painting and study of cheeses. Zoë delighted customers and passersby with a live cheese‑carving demonstration, creating a geometric design in Kaldi and Cheddar Pounder cheese. Guests at both venues were treated to cheese samples while exploring the parallels between stone carving and artisan cheesemaking, with those in London witnessing a 40-kilo Parmesan wheel being split using a method akin to cleaving stone. In Bath, a Pitchfork Cheddar wheel was cracked open, creating a striking moment of theatre.
