Inside Our Cheese‑Inspired Showcase at Paxton & Whitfield

Our collaboration with cheesemongers Paxton & Whitfield is a highlight of the calendar. From 11–17 May, a series of specially commissioned, cheese-inspired works were exhibited at their Jermyn Street shop as part of London Craft Week.

The display featured hyper-realistic cheese boards by Roya Bahram and Ben Russell, who also showcased a cluster of alabaster mushrooms. Charlotte Howarth’s limestone letter carving and oak board appeared alongside Zoë Wilson’s Audere and Caroline Hall’s painting and study of cheeses. Zoë delighted visitors and passersby with a live cheese‑carving demonstration, creating a geometric design in Kaldi, a coffee‑infused goat’s cheese, inspired by a Paxton & Whitfield motif. Later that day, Sculptor Ben Russell and Head of Retail Tom Richardson discussed the parallels between stone carving and cheesemaking, as guests sampled cheeses and witnessed a 40-kilo Parmesan wheel being split using a method akin to cleaving stone.

Our exhibition Cutting Cheese: Sculpture, Craft and Performance opens at Paxton & Whitfield’s Bath during the music festival, showing from 28 May – 25 June.
