Exhibition
Throughout the summer of 2025, Houghton Lodge, a Grade II* listed ‘Cottage Orné’ in Hampshire, was home to Fluvii, an exhibition featuring the work of 16 talented artists, each exploring a range of media including stone, clay and metal. All of the exhibits responded thoughtfully to the unique character of Houghton Lodge, with its breathtaking views from the house and the famous River Test that meanders through its stunning gardens.
At the heart of the exhibition was Fluvii, the Latin for ‘flows’, a title that captures the harmony between the house, gardens, the natural landscape and the creative energy of the artists, reflecting a shared sense of movement, connection and inspiration. Curator Sarah Rancans takes you behind the scenes of the show in the video on this page.
We welcomed 3,939 visitors to the exhibition from 20 June to 30 September. Don’t worry if you missed it, as select works remain available for purchase. Visit the Sculpture page to see the full range.
Houghton Lodge
Fluvii was part of a summer programme of events at Houghton Lodge, a Grade II* listed ‘Cottage Orné’ surrounded by mature trees and lawns sweeping down to the banks of the famous River Test. Arguably one of the most beautiful privately owned gardens to visit in Hampshire, the Lodge combines historic architecture with stunning natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy both formal and informal gardens, as well as over 15 acres (6 hectares) of meadows and walks along the picturesque River Test. There are resident alpacas, a small flock of Hebridean sheep, and a resident ‘snorting’ topiary dragon. Freshly prepared light lunches, cream teas and homemade cakes are served with tea and coffee in The Glass House Tea Room. For more information, visit https://houghtonlodge.co.uk/
